Progress progresses

Cheers to June! I always expect June to be a lovely, relaxing, vacation-y time, full of delicious drinks and lounging pool-side. While that did happen for an afternoon here and there, we are now in full-on bananas-mode. We're a handful of days out from getting back on the road, and my to-do lists are firmly in the "getting longer no matter how much I cross off" mode. That's a thing, right, it's not just me?

But besides packing/unpacking, organizing/reorganizing, work/writing, things are...going. Gorgeous early summer weather, good company, time with family. All the good things.

I've had a short story 90% done for a week and a half, but I can't have everything. Bright side, I'm still making progress - I started the next short story that's due this summer, plotted out my half of Ally, got moving on my Fallen World novel, and as of the moment, have a solid handle on my deadlines (thanks, aggressive calendar!).

When I'm deep in short-story writing, I get a boost of energy when previously written stories get out into the world. The most recent one for me is We Dare: No Man's Land, which came out recently and has been very well reviewed so far.

First of all: that cover!!! CKP has an amazing network of artists, and this cover is phenomenal. The anthology itself lives up to the cover, which is exciting: all badass protagonists, all ladies, all science fiction shenanigans. It was so much fun to write for, and so much fun to see people enjoying. Have you checked it out? Let me know what you think!

Also, coming soon (July 9) is In the Wings, a 4HU anthology of previously appearing characters. These are all secondary, non-protagonist characters taking center stage in a variety of ways. It's a heck of a lineup - and the for the first time in quite some time, an anthology with all six 4HU core authors contributing a story!

I can't wait to hear what you think. A LOT happens throughout the course of these stories - with repercussions for all sorts of storylines. Check in out in a few weeks!

Also coming out in July is the anthology continuing the story of an awesome video game from the 80s, Starflight: Starflight: Tales from the Starport Lounge. That was a heck of a lot of fun to write for, and I can't wait for you to see it!

I mean, you can feel the old school sci-fi awesomeness vibes from the cover alone, right? I love the whole thing, and have read a few of the other stories. You're definitely in for a good time with this one, whether you played the game or not. Also, I totally recommend playing the game.

Definitely more to come! In the meantime, I hope you have either a delicious beverage and relaxing time, or a ton of progress on your aggressive calendars, or, of course: both!
