Honestly I can't focus on much, because...well. DragonCon. If you've been around here awhile you've definitely heard me talk about it, and if you haven't, it's like this:
Tens of thousands of awesome nerds collect in one place, and all kinds of nerdery is celebrated. Mainstream stuff, niche stuff, all of it, through the amazing costumes, the fantastic spread of guests, the incredible spread of panel conversations...the company, the food, the lack of sleep - AAAA there is too much, let me sum up: all of it = awesome, and it's THIS WEEK.
I'm going to talk books and shows and engage in nerdy shenanigans and debate ships and eat glorious food and be in the company of so many of my favorite people...despite kicking the entire week off with no sleep before I even get to no-sleep-DragonCon (yikes), I'm basically vibrating with glee.
Aaaanyway, below is what I'll be up to, tentative-schedule wise - and I'll do my best to have a rambling, super long, so-delirious-it-barely-makes-sense-and-aren't-I-a-writer-who-should-be-better-at-wording report after the fact.
Or I'll sleep for a week.

DragonCon 2022 schedule for meeeee:
Friday:
10:00 am: Stargirl: Eclipsed Marriott M301 This past season Stargirl was "eclipsed" by a great evil. Sit down with us as our panelists consider about the horror element that surfaced in Blue Valley and how we think the aftermath will effect season three.
5:30 pm: Upload: The Dream of Freeyond Marriott M301 Nathan and his gang of not so merry misfits face off corporate influences, baby making possibilities, and create a siphoning system to help those less fortunate in Lakeview. While there's ups and downs in the virtual afterlife, all is not easy outside either, whether for Nora and her newfound LUDD buddies, or Ingrid with her pseudo deadness and clone growing efforts. This slightly shorter season caused some concern but only you can be the judge on if Upload carried into it's second season strongly enough.
10:00 pm: Sinful Sci-Fi Hilton Grand East Hilton What goes perfectly with Dragon Con? Sex! We'll get a sexy sci-fi title suggestion from the audience and then create a fun, innuendo-filled tale right on the spot, working in plenty of audience contributions along the way. It's the most fun you'll have at Dragon Con with our clothes on!
Saturday:
1:00 pm: Science Fiction Noir Hyatt Embassy AB Dark science fiction is popular right now. But that doesn't always mean violent or gory. Our panelists talk about their experiences writing sf noir, using the tropes of the noir genre, and why they do it.
2:30 pm: One True Pairing Improv Comedy Marriott M302-M303 Love is in the air! Join us for this super-interactive panel where we'll argue which characters would make the best romantic parings from all different fandoms. We'll also use audience suggestions for the choices and have you all help us decide the best OTP!
4:00 pm: The Evolution of the 'Badguy' Hero Marriott M302-M303 We've seen this character pop up in comics for years, Wolverine, Deadpool, etc, and now mainstream media has embraced it fully as well. There are far less purely good heroes now, then there are more gray. Our panelists will share their thoughts on how we get to heroes that are willing to dark deeds in the name of right. Have we lost the 'good scout' hero(ine)? Or is the better way to go? Other perspectives welcome!
8:30 pm: Women Writing Fighting Hyatt Embassy AB There are some excellent fight scenes in sf. Our panelists talk about writing fight scenes as women.
10:00 pm: Zombies vs Aliens: Humans Strike Back! Westin Chastain F-G And we're back! Our hilarious panelists from last year's hit panel return for another round of that most ancient of debates Aliens vs Zombies. Our panelists will be given randomly generated and wacky apocalyptic scenarios and alien and zombie types, then put their fighting gloves on and debate TO THE DEATH who would be victorious! Audience participation is welcome and drinking game rules apply.
Sunday:
7:00 pm: The Worlds of If: Multiverse Stories in High Fantasy Marriott L401-L403 Multiverse stories are all the rage these days. Let's look at some examples of this trope in high fantasy.
10:00 pm: Sex Work in High Fantasy Marriott L401-L403 Sometimes just background dressing, sometimes the main character, the practioners of the world's oldest profession have played a crucial role in many high fantasy stories.
Monday:
2:30 pm: The Impact of the Darkholde on the MCU Marriott M302-M303 This nefarious book has popped up in a lot of places, and it always causes a good bit of trouble when it does. We'll look at the backstory that we know, and how it got involved not only in Agents of SHIELD, WandaVision and of course, we'll bring up the Lightholde, and how they both factored into Dr. Strange, and where these influences might pop up next.
